About Us.

We are a local family that has been composting our food waste with worms since 2009 when Lindsey got sick of filling a trash can with just one rind from a watermelon.  She and the kids dug some worms up from the backyard and started composting in a few old buckets that we had around the house. This has grown into years of trying different methods and growing lots of plants with the compost we have produced.  

We also have furry friends who help us with the composting by watching us to make sure that we do not feed the worms any of their food.  Wehave 3 dogs who all have their own personalities and love to talk to us.  We have 3 cats who are big sleepers and love to snuggle.  We recently fostered a pregnant kitten who had 5 cute kittens.  We successfully homed 4 of the kittens and the mother.  One of the kittens has chosen us as her forever family.  

Then we have the real stars of this operation and that is all the worms and all of the other bugs and microorganisms that live with them.  They work together to break down the organic waste that we produce.  There is about 1 pound of worms per square foot in each of our bins.  That is 1000 worms per square foot.  That is a lot of waste per bin.  Worms can eat 1/2 their body weight per day so we can process 1/2lb of organic material per ever square foot of worm bed.  We are growing and adding new worm beds each month.
